Minke Whales off Ardnamurchan (August 2000)

This is actually a basking shark! (Ardnamurchan 2001)

Here are a few pictures of a young whale (25-30 ft long) taken with a disposable 35 mm camera at extreme range whilst cruising off Laihaina, Maui in December, 1995 during the Third International Symposium on New Phenomena in Mesoscopic Science. They have been scanned, enlarged and cleaned up. They still look dreadful but what the hell! Dave Ferry has let me have some of his pictures taken with a decent camera at the same voyage. I have included three scans of his pictures - they are a lot better!
